Auroville (South India – Tamil Nadu) wants to be a universal town where men and women of all countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony above all creeds, all politics and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville is to realise human unity. Auroville Capoeira has the same purpose, to find unity among us, going above our differences using the unique tool of capoeira to work on it and enjoy !
The first regular Capoeira classes in Auroville started in 2000. Since then teachers have followed one another and share their passion of the capoeira art and culture with the community.
Auroville Capoeira is born in 2007 of an idea that Capoeira should be shared in Auroville in the spirit of Auroville, trying to keep differences aside and bring the teachers together in order to share the best of what Capoeira is. Since its start Auroville Capoeira has changed a lot and adapted to the ground reality. We try to express an aim of Auroville that of “unity in diversity”.
